Western Stone Garden
1999
Granite Glacial Erratics
8’H x 60’W x 25’D
Collection of the City of Bellingham, Washington Boulevard Park.
This sculpture was created on location as Boulevard Park was being developed. It consists of five glacial erratic boulders which were left after our most recent Ice Age. The largest stone weighs 18 tons and stands 8 feet tall. Western Stone Garden is sited near the waters edge with a spectacular 220 degree veiw of Puget Sound. Just about every time I go to Boulevard Park, I see people sitting on or interacting with these five stones. It has become very important to me to know that these stones are an integral part of peoples lives. I especially love to see the children playing on them.
